"What we learned in 2020?
That oil is worthless in a society without consumption.
That healthcare has to be public because health is public.
That 50% of jobs can be done from home while the other 50% deserve more than they’re being paid.
That we live in a society, not an economy."
"We're seeing now exactly why every big company is fighting against universal health care.
Decouple health insurance from work and people are free to quit their bad jobs.
If people quit their bad jobs, companies will have to pay living wages to attract workers.
Can't have that."
"You know what would really help me as a small business owner?
Universal health care. We spend millions on premiums that enrich insurance companies.
Went on Fox to make this case and they were flabbergasted: "Why would you want to pay more" (in taxes)?"
"how are we gonna pay for universal health care?"
We already pay for it. Just use the $10,000 a year we spend on premiums + copays and cut out health care companies' $40 billion in annual profits.
Put our money toward health care, not a health insurance exec's 3rd yacht."
Truly, I think as a society, we can do better than this, we need to do better than this.
A civilized and developed world provides Universal Health Care to people, if not out of compassion and love, then out of reason to protect its human assets.
My dream is to see the delivery and payment of Health Care Services done in a humanitarian manner everywhere on planet earth.
There are so many esoteric lessons to unpack here. One main one is, when we choose self interests over helping others or our self interest harms others, the perfect Law of Karma will bring to us the corresponding experience we've given others.
