Have you ever heard it said about some celebrities that they "Sold their soul to the Devil"?
Someone I follow for 'out-there' info has followed this for years and describes it as 'you can't actually sell your soul, but you can give use of your body'. I've only been aware of this for a couple of years, and after watching the video below, I can tell you 'being aware' of it and watching this video aren't in the same category.
This video, although a fictional compilation, contains VERY disturbing information and explains many things you've seen in the world.

Let's talk Karma, Harm and Consent.
One does not have consent if someone signs a contract without understanding what they're signing.
One needs to understand what they're signing. And one needs all the information to provide consent.
Children and individuals with cognitive challenges cannot give consent because their reasoning and understanding capabilities aren't yet developed to the level required to make a fully informed decision.
Full understanding is required.
Being fully informed is required.
AND you can change your mind at any time.
Those are the elements for consent. I can't make it any simpler than that.
Having people sign contracts without the above conditions met is the equivalent of having cognitively challenged people sign contracts.
Let's talk Harm and Karma.
Causing harm, even with consent, still creates karma.
